WHO WE ARE
Shift Impact Africa Group is a pan-African, women-owned advisory, business development and consulting enterprise working on the African continent to consciously and intentionally drive African businesses to help Africa to become the economic powerhouse of the future.
We assist and guide organisations to unlock the power of creating shared value through profitably addressing material issues that are holding their business back. Value can be created for all stakeholders through impactful, sustainable strategies. We advocate strongly for profit with purpose, founded on the belief that business can profitably create both economic value and value for society.
Creating shared value is the most powerful practice companies can leverage to profitably fulfil their purpose and aspirations as it uses the core business to drive societal and environmental change.
It is the most authentic business practise as it relies on core business disciplines and practices to bring about change and prosperity for all.
Whether it is addressing protracted social issues, such as access to medicines, employment opportunities for self-determination, or improved agricultural techniques; or if it is targeting environmental opportunities, such as new uses for recycled plastics, or renewable energy sources; shared value practices offer companies new ways to innovate, compete, and create a profitable, impactful sustainable business environment.
What does it mean to create shared value?
Creating shared value is a competitive business management strategy that profitably addresses social and environmental issues through the core business to reconnect profit with purpose.
It represents a shift in business mindsets to find new ways to do business that are more efficient, more innovative, reach more markets, and create business sustainability over the long term – while also being less harmful to the environment, less onerous for employees, less neglectful of the value chain, and less exclusionary.
Business is inextricably linked to society. Social and environmental issues affect the way that people engage with products and services, the way that they choose to spend their money and, particularly in this hyperconnected era, how they feel about the brands that surround them. Natural resources are finite, and if they are not collected and used thoughtfully, they will run out. It makes good business sense to address the societal and environmental challenges that also present business challenges – infrastructure, consistent power supply, and more.

Shift Impact Africa is the founding partner of two entities that are housed under the Shift Impact Africa Group:
SHARED VALUE AFRICA INITIATIVE
SVAI is a pan-African organisation and the regional partner of the global Shared Value Initiative business network that is drawn together through a common purpose: to assist, motivate and collaborate with organisations to focus on value creation and sustainability for all through creating shared value. The Shared Value Initiative exists with the intention to build prosperous and sustainable economies and societies through focusing on profit with purpose.
SHARED VALUE AFRICA ACADEMY
The Shared Value Africa Academy’s goal is to become the Africa Shared Value training institution of choice – a centre of shared value excellence. SVAA offers bespoke training on the principles, disciplines and framework of the shared value business management concept. Their goal is to empower entrepreneurs, young executives and more mature executives through lifelong learning and training on Creating Shared Value (CSV) and business social impact.
Together with Shared Value Africa Initiative (SVAI), Shift Impact Africa is also the proud founding partner of four key initiatives:
JAMiiTRADE
A platform developed to increase cross-border trade in Africa, and create a curated, connected trade community of SMME, SME, MSMEs trading across Africa and beyond to build capacity and sustainability for Africa. JamiiTrade will provide access to peer-to-peer learnings, collaboration and exchange opportunities including insights and information and trade challenges and success experienced by peers by country, by sector by business size etc.
#ITSNOTOK
#ITSNOTOK is a social movement geared to mobilise citizens to speak out and businesses to act, and stand together against Gender Inequalities and Gender Based Violence & Femicide (GBVF) – Africa’s biggest societal shame.
#ITSNOTOK is driven by its purpose to create awareness of Gender Based Violence and the importance of addressing gender inequality, not only in the workplace but also in society.

2023 SHARED VALUE SERIES
Together with Shared Value Africa Initiative, Shift Impact Africa is excited to introduce the 2023 Shared Value Series – a new series of in-person events designed to move beyond the format of one single summit, and provide further opportunity for networking and knowledge sharing across our community.
The Shared Value Series forms part of the build-up to the 2024 Africa Shared Value Summit in Nairobi, Kenya.
